Year 4 2026 - 2027
Welcome to Year 4!
In Year 4, we have two classes:
Class 4J - Miss Jones
Class 4S - Miss Stokes
The classes are supported by Mrs Oakes and Mrs O'Grady.
Dropping off and picking up:
All pupils in 4J will enter through their external classroom door which opens onto the KS2 playground. Pupils in 4S will enter through the rear POD doors. Pupils are expected to arrive in their classrooms between 8:45am and 9:00 am. Pupils arriving after 9:00am will have to go to the office to sign in. It is vital for the pupils to arrive promptly as they will not want to miss out on the early doors activities and additional learning time. At 3:15pm, 4J will see out from their external classroom door and 4S will see out from the astro turf.
PE
During Autumn 1, Year 4 have PE on a Wednesday afternoon with Crewe Alex. Please ensure that the pupils bring their correct PE kit into school. All earrings are to be taken out for PE and pupils with long hair will be asked to tie their hair up.
Swimming
From the 14th September, Year 4 will be undertaking swimming lessons. We will be walking to the Crewe Lifestyle Centre every Monday afternoon. Please ensure that your child brings their swimming kit, towel and swimming cap in a named bag on Mondays.
Staying hydrated
Please ensure that your child comes to school with a water bottle so they can hydrate throughout the day. We ask that they do not bring in fizzy drinks, chocolate milk or energy drinks.
Mobile phones, smart watches and toys
Mobile phones and smart watches are not allowed to be brought into school. Please ensure any devices as such remain at home. Pupils may not bring toys of any sort into school and these items will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day. This includes fidgets.
Multiplication Tables Check
In June, Year 4 pupils will undertake the Multiplication Tables Check. We will be preparing the children to take this test throughout the year and will be encouraging them to continue preparing at home by logging onto TT Rockstars which can be accessed by using the following link - https://ttrockstars.com/ .Each pupil has been given their log in details to access this by their class teacher. The "Soundcheck" game acts like the Multiplication Tables Check and is a good way to practice. Children will recieve certificates for improving their Rock Status, by playing the "Studio" game, and for turning their Heat Map green, by playing the "Garage" game.
Reading at home
The pupils have been given access to "The Reading Journey" which acts like a virtual bookshelf. Pupils can add books to their book shelf, review them and update their progress on their currect reading book. This can be accessed by using the following link: https://thereadingjourney.co.uk/. Pupils will have access to the school library, which will be visitied weekly, and they will be encouraged to swap their reading books. Pupils are also allowed to read books from home.
