Cultural Ambassadors

Our Cultural Ambassadors have been established in response to our school community's ever growing diversity.

Our successful team of ambassadors applied by completing an application form in which they were asked to provide details of their personal qualities that meant they were suited for the role and create a poster detailing their plans for the team. The candidates then presented their posters to Mrs Jones and Mrs Starkey.

The team were all united in their vision for the group - that it would be a supportive buddy system for all new to England starters in order to ensure that not only would they feel welcome but that they would feel safe and well looked after in these first days and weeks especially.

The group have not only been successful in their aims around new starters but they have also achieved a further aim which was to share their traditions and cultures with the school community.

The Ambassadors planned a highly successful Super Learning Day where children from Reception to Year 6 moved around different country bases finding out about the traditions and cultures through fun and engaging learning activities planned by the Ambassadors themselves. Prior to the day itself, the Ambassadors attended a staff meeting where they presented their plans for the day to teachers.

Cultural Ambassadors all have previous experience of living in another country and/or speaking English as a second language. They are all good communicators, kind and empathetic with strong emotional intelligence.
